With Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, I am starting to feel a little holiday anxiety. I have always looked forward to spending time with my family especially since I quality woman needed for long term live here and they live in Kansas, but this year is different. A few months ago everyone in my immediate family decided to have an intervention of sorts with my mother. She has had a history of depression/manic/bipolar behavior but recently it has gotten completely out of hand. She used to enjoy the grand 's visits, but in the last year she has started yelling at them for very small things and ing them brats to their faces. She has been very openly hateful to everyone in the family. In addition to these things, she is extremely inappropriate in pubic situations. These are just a few broad examples, but basiy she has been very disruptive to the family dynamic and it has progressively been getting worse. So we sat down with her and tried to explain our concerns for her and ask her to get some help. I guess that was the wrong thing to do because she went NUTS and started screaming and hitting and trying to get her oldest daughter to hit her. Needless to say, the daughter (my sister) did not. She also made threats such as, "I can't believe you guys are doing this you be sorry for the rest of your lives because I disappear and make it look like your father did it." She also made several other menacing comments regarding suicide. We ed a mental health facility, but you can't make an adult get treatment if they don't want it. She is not speaking to anyone in the family except our dad. The sisters (me included) do not agree on how to handle the situation from here and are not speaking much. Our father doesn't know what to do and has not really spoken to any of us either. The holidays this year are going to be VERY uncomfortable and awkward at best and explosive at worst. I am filling more and more with dread the closer it gets to Thanksgiving. If anyone has any genuine advice, please let me know. Thanks for reading.
